Zane's big surprise.

Zane loves trucks. Or anything that resembles a truck. The first thing he does when he arrives at "school" is make a bee line for a truck. When he gets home, he races over to play with his truck.

Now when I say 'truck,' I am talking about one of those toys that he can push, ride on, and get behind and walk with. It honks, sings songs, makes all sorts of noises, and has a compartment where Zane likes to put things. Which is an improvement since he used to mash his fingers in the compartment.

Anyway, I decided it would be a good idea to video Zane playing with his truck. Normally he crawls around on his knees and one hand, while the other hand tightly holds the truck. He just zooms around like that.

Rarely does he pull himself up behind it. I think this is mainly because it moves forward and makes him unstable. EVERYTHING else in the house, no problem pulling himself up on...or grabbing for everything...or pulling everything down he can get his hands on, etc.

So I set the truck out in the middle of the floor, plopped Zane down near it, and started prepare to film. Well, much to my surprise, Zane pulls a fast one me...which left me scurrying to get video of him.

Zane's Big Surprise:

Yup, the little guy took his first steps behind the truck. Now he had been walking while holding onto the couch for a week or so, but this was the first time he'd walked with a moving object.

And I got it on video.

Kinda cool.

OH! And to top it off, he said "Dada" for the first time Friday night. We were at the car dealership and he was babbling along, and then suddenly he just popped a "Dada!" Court and I were just stunned.

And YES, he said it a few more times! You're so cynical! It wasn't a one-time deal.

He'd been saying "Mama" for a few months, so it was about time he got around to "Dada!"

"Dada." Has a nice ring to it, don't ya think?

Very cool.

Very cool indeed. Does it look like I'm enjoying myself?

You bet I am!

Thank you, Zane. Thank you, my lovely wife.
