Zane's first time...
...to fly in a plane.
...to eat solid foods.
...having Christmas.
...swimming.
...etc, etc, etc.
We can now add to the list....Zane's first black eye and mouse!
Now that Z is sitting up, we like to do things with him right in front of him to see if he'll try to duplicate it. Like setting up some blocks in a pyramid shape and knocking them down. We'd create a pyramid, knock them down, set them back up, and wait to see if Zane would try to knock them down.
Oh yeah, he loved doing that. We must have done this exercise 2 dozen times. He couldn't get enough. Then he decided he would grab the blocks and toss them around. I'd make a pyramid, he'd knock it down, then he'd scatter the blocks. Quite a bit of fun.

Now I should add in here that Zane is on the verge of crawling. He has all the necessary parts, he just needs to put them all together. One time he'll have his legs up underneath him pushing along, only his head is on the ground...so he sort of gives himself a rug burn. Other times he's in the right position, rocking back and forth, but he hasn't quite figured out how to make his legs and arms move forward.
So to encourage him to crawl we put things out in front of him while he's sitting to entice him forward.
Ok, so let's tie these two together.
We've been playing the "knock the blocks down" game, and having fun. He obviously loved playing with the blocks. So I decided to build a pyramid just out of his reach in the hope that he'd crawl forward to knock them down.
We almost got it.
Instead he lunged forward, and made a valiant grab for the second layer of blocks. Of course the top layers of blocks scattered like prvious times, but this time Zane was completely off balance.
Yup, you guessed it. He crashed face first right into the bottom layer of blocks.
Let the wailing begin!

He whacked himself pretty good. Fortunately tHGP has at its disposal the ultimate band aid.
Mom!
Mom scooped him up and made things all better. Heartless Dad on the other hand scooped up his camera to take pictures.

As you can see he recovered pretty quickly and was soon back to kicking some serious building block butt.
