Inside, it read...
"Walk a little slower, Daddy,"
Said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps,
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your footsteps are too fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
you're what I want to be.
Then I will have a child,
One who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.
Said a little child so small.
I'm following in your footsteps,
and I don't want to fall.
Sometimes your footsteps are too fast,
Sometimes they're hard to see,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For you are leading me.
Someday when I'm all grown up,
you're what I want to be.
Then I will have a child,
One who'll want to follow me.
And I would want to lead just right,
And know that I was true,
So walk a little slower, Daddy,
For I must follow you.
Ok, so those of you who know me well, this will come as no surprise. Yeah, it took me about 5 minutes to compose myself after reading that poem on the inside of the card. Then I tried to read it to Courtney...yup, you guessed it. Had a hard time getting through it again.
I'm a big softie. I admit it, I embrace it.
I'll report back on what I do for my first Father's Day...as long as I get to spend it with my wife and son, all will be perfect.

A father leaves his legacy behind with the good hearts
and souls of the children he raises.
and souls of the children he raises.

Happy Father's Day, Pop. We miss you.
